Ok newbie needs help?!@

I have a friend that gave me a dual halogen shop lamp 48" long and takes 2 halogen bulbs. I think they (the bulbs) are like 5 or 6 inches in length each. I was looking at the hqi bulbs and they look like they are the same. Can I just replace the halogens with the hqi bulbs? Not sure if the ballast will handle the bulbs or not. Does anyone have any ideas on this?

I don't think so....2 totally different types of bulb

Won't work, but if you want a cheaper light set up look into getting a retrofit kit, much cheaper than the already made set ups.
