OK to put clam on PVC pipe?

Just wondering, is it ok to put a clam on a raised piece of PVC pipe just off the sand bed? Since the pipe is hollow, there really wouldn't be an easy way for the clam to attach with its byssal threads.

The reason I ask is because I want to keep it like this for a while (at least for a month) in a non-permanent, undisturbed state until I find a suitable final resting place for it.

The clam in question is a Derasa, but I'm wondering if the same thing applies to Croceas.

if you place him on a small flat rock, you can move him and his rock around the tank. derasa do better on the sandy bottom while crocea's like to be up on the rocks.
