Ok to run Streams on aquacontroller wave maker?

Roger,
Would it be ok/advisable to run a stream without a controler( a 6060 or 6080)using an aquacontolers wavemaker feature? Say on 1 minute and off 1 minute. I would mainly be concerned with the wear and tear on the stream. I know this has probably been covered but thought I would ask

If I recall the max switching cycle is once per hour, anything shorter and the breaks in the stream wear out too quickly

As they said, it has a unidirectional drive unit. Most people don't realize that the cheaper powerheads can and do spin either direction, a prop only works when spinning the right way so a clutch is necessary to stop it if it goes backwards and with frequent on and off it never fully retracts and wears out. It isn't the expense of this part, it is a cheap part, the problem is if you don't notice the pump isn't running it will overheat from the prop not moving cooling water through the pump, this will destroy the internal circuit breaker/ overheat switch as it can only turn on and off so many times before it is destroyed.

I'll probably just go with one with a controler when I decide to get one. I'm using penductors on a CL right now and I'm very happy with them but I think a stream on a controler(was thinking wavemaker for $ purposes)would add a nice "randomness" to the flow.
