Okay, it's up and running!

Have the Aquaclear running on the tank and waiting for the Korelia 4 to come in to help with the flow. Then for a few pieces of live rock to seed it and the waiting game begins.

I'm thinking 5 fish...tusk, a couple angels, a butterfly, and a tang.

Peace,

Chip

Okay, starting to tweak the stock list a bit. Now it's looking like this :

Emperor angel
Flame angel
Harlequin Tusk
some kind of butterfly (Pakistani? Saddleback? Semilarvatus/Golden?)
some kind of non-common tang (Purple? Desjardini?)

Any suggestions on the tang and butterfly?

Peace,

Chip

Purple tang and Chaetodon tinkeri. Ok, seriously on the Buterfly Black Back Butterflyfish
(Chaetodon melannotus)
p-39122-butterflyfish.jpg
is very attractive and hardy

I do really like that one. Do you think it's too similar in coloration/pattern to an Emperor angel? Were you serious on the purple tang? I'm leaning toward that one simply due to the color and the smaller max size. Plus, I've kept one before in a 75 and it did very well and was fat as hell. :)

Thanks for the input, Dave.

Peace,

Chip

Also, as the resident Regal angel expert...what's your opinion on going with one instead of the flame?

Peace,

Chip

I am serious about the purple they relatively small, relatively nice and hardy.

As far as the regal goes, I don't want to sound like the tang police here, but you are already planning to pack a lot of fish into a 90. If I hadn't seen your tanks in the past, I might question that choice.

Regals are really hard to get in healthy. Even then they are very shy. Mine were always the alpha fish in the tank. You have a pretty tough and outgoing neighborhood planned. I think you will have a really hard time getting one to settle down in that environment.

I've had my purple and blue hippo going on 10years in Jan.2010 and both are only 4in. I love my clown, kole and chevron as well:D And my flame angel(hard to beat their colors)

Dave, thanks for the input. I'll definitely go with the flame instead of the regal.

Wayne, awesome. Purples are tough suckers, too. :)

Peace,

Chip

Thanks for the benefit of that doubt. :)

So, in the end, this is what it would be :

dual Aquaclear 110s (500s)
dual Koralia 4s (1200gph each)

twice-monthly water changes

Stock list :

Emperor Angel
Harlequin Tusk
Flame Angel
Black Back Butterfly
Purple Tang

Sounds like a good plan to me, and there is still well over a month to tweak it if I have to. Not adding the first fish until December.

Peace,

Chip

I didn't need to hear that. :) I used to have a beautiful 10" one when I lived in New York. Had him for 4 years before I had to move and sold off that tank (180 fish-only).

The tank won't be ready for a long while yet, so no worries.

Peace,

Chip

I'm little late in the conversation but what about a Black tang never seen one locally. Only in dist. tanks. Just a thought. Chip contrats on the tank and, the list of fish you have thought of will make a beautiful display of colors. I like the tusk gotta be an all time fav for me.

On a side note Dave have you seen what my blue devils football team has been doing. I have been told if we win 2 of the last 4 games. We may have a chance to play a small time bowl game in december. How are your gamecocks doing? Heard your basketball team has a great recrutin classs comeing in next year. Not bad for a 3rd year coach yeah. talk to ya later. Sorry Chip you hijackin thread.

How ya been, Steve? Everything okay?

Went to get live rock at Bruce's tonight! Tank parameters so far are : temp 79 degrees, salinity 1.024.

Lucked into a HUGE awesome branching piece and got a few smaller pieces (grapefruit sized on the left, 8" branching piece on the right) for either side.

The monster piece was a whopping 17 pounds and fit PERFECTLY into the center part of my structure.

Now, to wait a month at least. LOL.

Here it is!

And you were right, Dave. That Annularis is awesome.

Yeah- Bruce at Sea Critters Depot has some rock from tanks that were taken down that is absolutely awesome! Most of them are pretty large pieces. That looks like one of those pieces. Nice grab!
