I was going to get an aqua medic ocean light halide kit but now I am thinking about a reefstar one.

So tank details...

55gal corner pentagon 24" tall and 24" at its widest piont

the kits

Reefstar 400w with 14,000k hamilton bulb 350.00 shipped

or the

Aqua medic 250w with 15,000k bulb 266.66 shipped

I would probaly also have 130 watts of PC with it.

What should I go with is 400w over kill?

I would do the 250's on a 55 gal tank. Thats just my opinion, others will chime in. You may want to do the HQI ballasts.

I would not want to deal with the heat problem in the summer with 400's.

I'd go 250W. IMHO

I have 400s on my 185. They generate a lot of heat. I just bought a chiller to deal with the summer water temps. You tank will do fine witht the 250s.

I 2nd 250, go for DE, it's as bright as 400w se.
