Old Coraline

Hello,

I'm sort of new to all this (I supposed that's a given based on where I'm posting). Anyways, I set up a quarantine tank, and some tubs to house some fish and live rock while I'm finishing my display. I'm using some used powerheads to circulate the water, and the heads had some old coraline growth (been out of water for a couple months minimum) on them. I'm not currently lighting anything, as its just water, the rock and fish aren't here yet, and the coraline is looking pretty dull/ light pink, and is pretty soft. I'm pretty sure that it means that the coraline is dead. I guess my question is, should I remove it, or just let it go, and hope that it will seed some of the rock when I get it on tuesday?

Thanks for all your help,
Tim

I would just leave it unless the powerhead is causing the coraline to flake or come of due to the current, btw, welcome :)

It's not going to hurt any thing to leave it, but it will not seed your new rock, because it is dead. If it has a little color now, it will probrable turn white soon once in the tank. It will also come off of your power heads easy right now too.

Ok, thanks a bunch. Just wasn't sure if I should remove it to avoid any ammonia spikes in my QT or anything like that.

Thanks again

Yes, vinegar will help soften more if you want to get rid of it.. BTW Welcome to the RC community!!! Feel free to ask questions because there is an array of knowledge here...
