old tank okay for qt tank?

I'm looking to add a few new fish to my 190. I have had this 65 gallon running for four years and am currently trying to break it down - if I can ever sell the remaining rocks and coral. So I figured while it's here maybe I can use it as a quarantine tank. The fish that are currently in my 190 came from here. They all are disease free and this tank is really clean. Phosphates at .19 and nitrates at 1.0. I was planning to treat new fish with two rounds of prazipro and anything else suggested here except copper of course. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the feedback! Would you recommend anything other than a few rounds of prazipro? Possibly a round of metro+? And qt them all for six weeks? I want to make sure I don't cut any corners or rush things.

Sounds reasonable. Prazi for flukes, Metro for internal parasites?

Honestly I purchased the metro some time ago for my tang. The more I read about it the more it seems mainly for external hlle issues - looking like I will just go with the prazi pro only. Thanks again.

Are you planning to use it as a QT while the rock/coral are still in it?

Yes.

One rock is covered in a four year old nepthia growth - beautiful rock just too big for my new setup. The other rock has around 6 green metallic mushrooms on it. No mushrooms in the new setup. It's my understanding that prazipro is safe for them.

I don't know what Prazipro is (I'm British, it most probably has a different name over here) but so long as it's safe that's fine and well. You may wish to inform any prospective buyer what has been used though, rock can absorb a great many chemicals (and also affect dosage).

Prazipro is just a brand name for a type of praziquantel medication. I copied the text for you so you can know more about it in general. Also I will def mention that I used it when selling those two rocks. Thanks.

Prazipro - The first ready-to-use liquid concentrate praziquantel treatment for aquarium use. Controls disease conditions caused by flukes, tapeworm, flatworm, and internal parasites. Use in freshwater or marine aquariums. Offers rapid control without negatively impacting your biological filtration. May also be used as a preventive. Not recommended for reef aquariums with Feather Duster Worms or other ornamental worms.
