Old tank to new tank

I'm changing from a non-drilled 75 gal to a RR 75 BB. I will have a 30 gallon sump with a H&S A150-F2000 skimmer direct fed, the overflow will go though a sock. I discovered just the other night that the salt water I was getting at a local lfs must come from their tank system. I poured some of the water I got a couple of days before and saw the same algae in the bucket that I've been fighting, needless to say I'm a little upset.

My question is, while I have the majority of my rock cooking, should I add the rock in the current tank with the algae? Algae's not bad just a nuisance, but I don't want to continue fighting it. Just ordered a RO/DI from the filter guys so I've solved the bad water problem. Do you think between the better skimmer and the use of filter socks, I can overcome the aglae?

It can take a long time for algae to get "cooked" out of the rock, so you might want to just add the rock to the tank and fight it off with good water quality. If you eliminate phosphates and nitrates from your water than your algae problem should go away (your skimmer should help control DOC's) as the algae won't have anything to feed off. Setup a fuge with some macro algaes to compete for the nitrates and use phosban for any phosphates that might be added with food. A couple mithrax crabs should also help in "scrubing" the rock of most nuisance algaes.
