Older 180 Gallon with center glass brace

I have an older 180 gallon tank with a corner overflow on one end. (I don't know what brand it is though I am guessing All Glass.) In the center of the top is a 2 foot wide piece of glass that is setting on or glued to 2 pieces glued to the front and rear of the tank. I would like to come up with some other type of bracing for this tank that would allow me to remove the center glass. It is not clear anymore and I am sure that it cuts down on the lights properties as well as making it difficult to work in the tank as is necessary on occasion. Dimensions are 72 1/2 by 24 1/2 by 25 tall with 1/2 thick glass. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

I had an old 125 tall that I made a brace out of metal that clipped over the sides of the tank, much like a battery tie down if that makes sense. I then dipped it in plastic-coat from the hardware store and it worked great. Been years since I had that tank, but last I heard it's still running strong:)

Sounds like an Oceanic tank. My Oceanic 135 has a huge brace right smack in the center. All-glass tanks have less bracing. I just got a new 210 (72x24x29) from AGA which has 2 thin braces. Works perfectly since I plan to put 3 MHs over the tank.

Its an Oceanic tank.. All glass has the plastic braces Oceanic uses the Glass ones.. You could always have a glass shop cut you to smaller braces silicone them into place and remove the large one in the middle. That way if you have 3 Mh lights you wouldn't be blocking no where near as much light.
