It is Yuma, i found it on the web, that is a cool looking coral, does anyone have on that looks like this? and not for $50 ...lol

I think depending on the color you'll pay about tha tmuch in the LFS.. maybe less if you pick some ones that need to color up still and get a surprise :)

A regular ricordia looks like dippin dots but the mouth that protudes from the center is very smooth without any of the bumps...

A yuma has many bumps all over itself as well as the mouth portion that sticks up

They call them false tentacles on the oral disc. That is the only sure-fire way to tell the difference. Also, yumas are many time a more pastel color than the solid colors of the ricordea florida. Yes, R. floridas dual have multiple solors on occasion, but they are still usually solid and with distinct patterns. The last way to tell the difference is that many time R. florida will have multiple mouths on a single polyp and many times become odd shapes, whereas R. yuma will usually only have one mouth and be in a regular round shape.

Also, saying a yuma from regular ricordea is deceiving, because yumas are as regular as the R. florida, it's just that R. florida are close and this makes them much more accessable to us here in the states.

I love the thoughtout explanation! Mine was right before i ran off to school ;p

Also aren't the floridas more carribean whereas the yumas are more from the pacific?

And seth.. i got an email from sitc saying they are getting some rainbow yumas. i'd jump on them if i were you. heck i might jump on thems ince im me :) i LOVE them
