OMG MUCHO...

...you were right! I followed your suggestion of looking for a diamond in the rough. I was doing a trade of some ov my faves to a friend. She offered me some RPEs but I already have them. So I lookled over her tank & picked out several greyish-looking polyps that looked like they had some promise under my T5s & vitamin C. (Everything seems to really pop under my lighting.) After less than a week, these started to color up. Looky what I found!!!

Are they what I think they are? Sorry they aren't open all the way but I couldn't wait to post these pics for you guys. I almost think I see a white rim on them too, which is fine to me.

I'm glad you found it. I think everyone should try it, that's the joy of reefing. Those will developed white specks if you gradually move them upwards over time if they are the ones I think they are.

I have them right up top, in that sweet spot you were talking about. Do you have a pic you could link me to of what they might eventually look like?

I'm thinking I'm just happy you found something nice. Definitely looks like a PPPG to me.

No Rev, they are PPPG = Pretty Polyps Purple & Green. :D :mixed: :smokin: ;) :rolleye1:

Great score!

Puff - did she know what she had before the trade? Just wondering if she knew about this piece beforehand and just didn't care for them.

No, she has no idea. I linked her to this thread & still haven't heard back from her. Rev, I'm sure we can work something out ;) , once I see they are doing well & coloring up nicely. I just found out another frag I got from her is the same & it has at least 6 polyps on it!

I did like Mucho said & saw these greyish/light blue polyps in her tank that looked like they might have potential. I got frags from 2 different ones she had. It looks to me now that they are the same thing.

Thats how i usually do it. I had a couple turn out to be diamonds,, some well they just stay turds. lol

Jeni...glad you like them...I also have more in the 12 gallon tank that have already gotten their freckle faces. I'm waiting for the PD I got from you to open up. Time to start treating the tank with vitamin C me thinks....

IME, OD is sensitive to being moved. After shipping, my 1st polyp took almost 6 weeks to open up. I really thought it was a gonner. See the brown gook coming out of it?

Yeah, I was just going to alert the seller to send me another polyp, when it finally opened. Now you can see it in my avatar.

Here is part of one colony...Jeni...I gave you these before when I thought they were just PPE's remember. You said they didn't make it for you. I actually have 3 of these colonies scattered in the tank.

This picture is about a year old...I'm looking forward to seeing what the new tank, lighting and vitamin C will do to my collection.
