The thing that frustrates me most of all is that they always talk about how they want people to understand how to conserve energy. However, when it comes to something more than "use less energy", they are short of meaningful answers.
Honesly, perhaps someone should try to get ahold of someone at Edison to try to address our community in general. I mean, we all seem to be energy conscious to one degree or another - if not just because of the money involved - however not having any real coherent information makes it impossible for us to make the proper choices.
Solar would cost me about 24K and would take forever to pay for itself (in that all it would do is supply enough to keep me out of the highest tier; it wouldn't power the whole house by any means...). And I've done about as much conserving as I can, really. So what's left? Unhook the power from the pole, I guess...
Perhaps I could try to look into finding a contact that could go over this stuff a bit better. After all, my companie's electric bill is in the millions per month, so maybe they'd do us a favor and line us up with someone who could better explain it.
I'll see what I can do...
