last night i posted a thread on the breeding forum about how to get your clowns to have babies and what to do when they do they their eggs and tonight when i got home and looked at my clownfish... she was pregnant!! and her stomach was huge... yesterday she looked normal... with a tiny bulge in her stomach but i thought i was just imagining it because i wanted her to be pregant!! HOW CRAZY?!!!!!!

now......i dont know what to do?!!! i dont know anything about clowns having babies?!!

so im going to post this on every forum ( well 3 anyways ) so i get some quick advice!!!

Honestly, you probably won't be ready to raise the first (or first few) batches of eggs. The book Clownfishes, by Joyce D. Wilkerson is highly recommended if you're interested in raising the fry. I just picked it up myself, and in the brief skim-through I've done it's got a LOT of helpful information in it.

Once your clowns start spawning, they should spawn again every week, give or take, so you should have some time to be prepared and get ready, and then try your hand at raising some!

Also, this thread might be really helpful:

lots to learn dont do anything with the first spawn you have at least 3 weeks till you will be able to harvest

what do mean 3 weeks till i will be able to harvest? sorry !! im new at this!! I have a 2 gallon qt tank i will dedicate to raising the clowns...

2 gallons is probably way too small...but luckily for raising the first stages of the fry all you should need is a 10g aquarium with a heater and a really gentle airstone.

Take a look at that thread I linked you, and if you can pick up the book, it's bursting with great info (basically step by step account of how to raise the fry) and how to set up the tanks and what you'll need to raise them.

You'll need at least 3 weeks to get everything ready for the fry and to get your Rotifer culture going at an acceptable rate. Once again, more info is in that thread! :)

Congrats on your newly-spawning pair of Occelaris!

this person is obviously a novice in breeding. maybe we do not need to be so critical of every word chosen.

xo, good luck with the process of learning.

Only thing I see is some miss information given out, as with this thread. I don't think anyone meant to be critical. But really it's not that difficult to do a little research prior to your post. It should be done with every creature you keep in your tank. Seems like everyone wants to research after the fact, and come here, post, and are then given answers by people who have been in the hobby for a few months, or are just thinking of getting into the hobby.
