ok, so a while ago i found like 1 zoanthid eating nudibranch on some frags, so i dipped alll removable zoanthids in my tank in iodine and it seemed to kill them all off very well. welll somehow i just found some alll over a colony that is growing on to a nice 10 pound rock. they are very tiny and are the size of like a grain of table salt, but i know they are zoanthide eating nudibranchs. I tore off half the colony and im preparing a dip for it, but what do i do about the colony i cant remove???

:( thanks for any help

you are going to have to find a way to get the dip poured over the rock for a period of time similar to how long a normal dip would last. just sitting there basting the rock with prepared water would be better than nothing.

Wow ours were not as small as yours. When we had them we just removed them manually and after that we never saw them again. This is what ours looked like under a microscope.

Search or google for treating zoanthid eating nudi's with salifert's FWE, I did a write-up a while ago but can't seem to find it...

yup, i found like one that looked exactly like that about the size of an eraser head of a wooden pencil about a month ago. after i realized what it was, i dipped all my zoas, and scraped 3 egg rings off of one of my frags, and quarintined the frags closest to the one i found the nudibranch eggs on. now, on the other side of my 75g tank itty bitty ones are showing up on an old colony ive had atleast 2 years. they are almost transparent, but i can see the spiny things on their back and they are making the colony close up tight. i got one in a pipette and looked at it under a pretty good magnifying glass and they look exactly like the big ones.

i am trying to figure out how to do what you suggested, but the rock is kind of a pain to get out, its not exactly on the top of a formatation, and its rather oddly shaped. also, im afraid to just pour iodine dip all over it because i dont want iodine to get stuck in the pores of the rock and then get introduced back in my main system.

thanks guys

Edit: looky what i found :)
