On a positive note

Recently, I have seen a number of negative posts around here. I just want to say that we should appreciate the forum for what it is, and what it's made for. The fact is, it gives us a chance to enhance our hobby experience by sharing and combining expertise. Yes, people get upset and it is understandable, however, what counts is how we handle yourself afterwards. The main focus here is to share our experience and to learn from each other in a form of advice or mistakes in regards to our fascinating hobby. I don't chose sides by any means, but I just would like to remind everyone for the futures sake of why we are all here  I want to thank the RC community, because they truely helped me a lot with this hobby!!

I feel that one of the greatest challenges in communicating is choosing the proper words to accurately convey a message with the proper tone. This isn't too much of a problem when in person and we have other ways to determine the tone, but these emoticons can only do so much.

I recently saw a thread where a person's response seemed overly cocky or confrontational, but they were truly seeking guidance on where they cold further their research with cited sources.

That is so true.. Especially when English is not one's native and first language.. I have faced that problem before, and now, I always spend some time proof-reading before I post anything online, just to be sure I convey the right message..

This forum is indeed a valuable asset for the hobby and I have received valuable advice and suggestions that I would otherwise not have found elsewhere..

I thought I posted in this thread earlier but it's not here so maybe I fabricated that memory. :D Now you're all gonna get the cliff's notes version because I don't feel like typing it all out again.

I agree with the above. Even when I get into "discussions" about stuff with people on here and it's clear we don't agree, I feel lucky to be part of this club. Information sharing is great on here, but what's even better is the opportunity to connect with all the talented and experienced hobbyists in this area and develop friendships. It's great to log on to a forum and get advice, but it's totally awesome on another level when you post about a problem and people show up at your door to help you fix it, or someone hears you have a new tank and before you know it you've got bags of stuff to put in it.

We're definitely lucky to have such a strong community in upstate NY.

Thanks, Adam! I agree with everyone here. In addition, one of the biggest points of even joining and being in this forum is also to have FUN! :D
