Aloha all, I been having a bit of cyno in my tank and after doing some interesting research on it, I came across that you should be rinsing your foods? Does this just mean running the myosin, squid, and other non-flaked food under freshwater? Can anyone elaborate on this please.

I would use RO/DI water to rinse. I've found the best way to combat Cyano bacteria in my tanks was to increase flow.

Yes, you should be rinsing your frozen food, but that might not be the only source of your cyano troubles. How much flow/skimming do you have? Do you use RO/DI water and know the TDS? What are your nitrates and phosphate levels testing?

I'd agree with drummer....Rinsing the foods with a good quality water will remove all kinds of "juices" that contain phosphates which will support a cyano, micro-algae, etc. growth. But, there's a limit to the utility of doing this because unless you're overfeeding, there isn't enough bad stuff being addressed to support the cyano growth that your having on its own. So, you have to look for other, at best, additional reasons why this is occurring in your tank.
