On the Bottom

I've order a 100 lbs. of live rock and 100 lbs. of Agralive for my 90 that will be in early next week. Do I need to cover the bottom of the tank with an egg crate material so to protect the glass or should I place the rock directly on the glass bottom.

you could put the rock right on the bottom, i dont see the egg crate hurting at all either, i think youll be fine either way

thanks I read a thread where someone was hearing cracks and noises thru the nite where the rock was possibly braking the crate material or it might have been something else and I didn't want to scratch or break the tank in any way

your rock will be fine on the bottom, do a search for BB tanks (bare bottom) the rock is on the glass and no sand

really the chick at Premium aqutics taked me into it I was going to order live sand but she indicted I'd be better off with agralive because the rock would feed the sand anyway

I originally had made up my mind to go TBS but after seeing the Marshall Rock and the Kaelini Tonga that it would look best. I really wanted to get the sand and rock from the same place.

The cost of the sand is not a problem as i got the sand for like 15.00 a bag but if its not safe or not a correct type of sand that will be benefical to my tank I'd like to know. The other live sands i've seen were going to cost around 500.00 to get sent to me. the agra was resonable in cost cosidering. The play sand is certainly a cost effecient way to stock a tank but I was looking at the fact that the agralive has bacteia and Live sand mixed which seemed maybe like a SMARTER diredtion to go. Thanks for the advice

its about finding or getting the right sand, i have done a little searching here where i m and it seems to be hard to find, being a seasonal product.

was looking around the net for some place to order it but all i find so far is reef forums that talk about it.

the play sand here i found doesnt say anything about it other then the part number #1113 from quickete

i know what the right stuff in the bag looks like " yardright Tropical Play Sand"

but if anyone has any link on the net to maybe order it it would be more helpful i think.
