Once velvet always velvet?

Hello everyone ! I had velvet outbreak in my tank. 80% of fish dead in a matter of 2-3 weeks.

I only have 3 surviving fishes. My question is, If I leave the tank without new adquisition during 72 days, will the velvet die aswell as part of it natural cycle? If the fish are inmune or just not affected by it should I just let it be?

Or do I have to take out all the fish, treat them even if they are not showing symptoms and leave the tank fallow for 72 days?

Thanks for the help.

Sorry to hear for your losses...same thing recently happened to me, only two fish left so tagging along.

Fallow time (No fish, not even the immune ones) for velvet is 6 weeks. I would suggest you get some chloroquine phosphate to treat the current fish in a QT
