One Eyed Lion

So I adopted a Dwarf Zebra Lionfish today. He is is QT right now, after getting him home I noticed that he only has one eye! I think it makes him even more special now. It looks to me like he's never had one there to begin with. I have given him the name King Leonidas... I've never seen this before and thought you guys may want to check it out.

He probably did have one but lost it. The most common reasons for that is aggression from other fish, or a bad case of pop-eye. Considering hes a lion, I feel more confident with the latter. lol

I love critters with personality. Congrats on your new addition.

Lions actually get picked on a lot, but there's probably no way to tell now...nothing I can see in the photo, but it does appear to have healed-up nicely. Since lions use binocular vision when hunting, it may have some depth perception problems when it strikes at its food. However, once weaned, you'll be able to ensure it gets a good varied diet by target feeding it. 3x a week is a good feeding schedule.

he seems to have no problem hunting. put a ghost shrimp in there for him before, did a good job stalking him before the kill.
