Thanks Mel for the heads up about this post, I took today off and hadn't looked at the boards.

What you've got there is a polyphemus moth, and judging by the antenna and body size it is female. Neat animals, they lack mouthparts as adult moths and only live for about a week off stored energy from when they were caterpillars.

Cool! Thanks for filling us in on what it is Tad. :thumbsup: Kinda stinks they only live about a week though. Is that typical for adult moths?
