I am hoping someone has had this algae in their aquarium. I will probably have to go get some more books to id some of the algae I have. Just thought I would toss a pic up to see if someone knows what algae this is.

It is lobed and laminar kind of like a prickly pear cactus.

Pretty! I looked in South Pacific Reef Plants and Caribbean Reef Plants (both by Littler and Littler). Try looking up Coelarthum.

Thanks. I will check it out. This algae also turns orange and then fluoresces (or at least looks as if it does) under my lights. Its really strange.

OCEANUS,

Is it growing fast? I hope you like it and aren't trying to get rid of it. I would love to have that growing in my reef. If you would be interested in selling a cutting of it I would be interested in buying during a warm season although I have had lousy shipping red algae.

Kevin, it grows at a medium rate (slower than Chaeto). I don't have alot right now, and I'm in the process of moving my reef aquarium. Once I have larger pieces I would have no problem shipping some to you.

that looks awsome ! .. i love it

seriously ,

never seen that before , if you ever want to sell clippings , please pm me , and i will def get some of that from you ,

may i ask where you got it ?

i have that same stuff in my tank. it grows like crazy. the flourescent orange areas are were it's dying. make sure it doesn't spread or you'll be in trouble!
