One of Five Anthias Died in QT (What is this Disease that Killed him)

I'm not new to this Hobby of 25+ years. (Was going to post in Fish Disease Areas but few thread, so not sure)

But I am new to fish disease since starting new tank means new fish.

Took my risks in past without QT and got lucky (except once).

This time all fish going thru QT, all most made it fine except now.
The fish were Treated with PaziPro from the Start.

In a Nutshell. Got a Few Cariberryi Anthias.
4 out 5 were fine, but one Anthias was withdrawn after Day 1or2 of QT.

Today on Day 6 of QT the one Anthias Died.
Yesterday I noticed a Flash of red on his side.

This is what he looked like when I pulled him out dead.

The others are perfectly fine, but I worry since they were exposed and touched the fish that died.

They will not go into DT till I'm am confident things are ok.

I posted and someone said possibly "œUronema".....which would be a parasite.

But looking at this API Med Packet of Furan-2....Could be "œHemorrhagic Septicema"....which would be bacteria.

Should I just Wait and Watch for a few more weeks?

or start treating with something as a precaution?

The PaziPro is no longer in the QT, after Water Change and Carbon that I just started.

I have had a freshwater fish get Hemorrhagic Septicema, and it didn't look like what is on your fish, but the size of the fish is fairly different. Its bleeding under the skin essentially, and that bar seems surprisingly targeted for something like that. Its only in one area, and not spread around the whole fish.

is there any chance this was a physical trauma or injury? it almost looks like a large bruise on the side if i'm interpreting the image correctly.

if you had a group of them, anthias aren't always known for being kind to each other.

You may be correct.

He kept jamming himself under a rock but couldn't quite fit.
Always one direction, so rock would have been jabbing his left side. The other fish were trying to get him out and about... Bumping him too.

This is what he looked like on other side. (no bruise or red mark)

I did speak to a guy who does Fish QT for a living.

Say's just in case to Treat Tank for Bacteria. (with API Furan-2).
Can't hurt.

The other 4 are all fine (Eating, Look great, Active)

....so hoping this was just a weak fish thing or injury.

My guess, it was killed by the other anthias. Eventually you will only have one.

You may be right.

I added one more Anthias from my Other QT to this group.

He is kind of being left out just like the last one that died. (Has to sleep in the Grass area, and doesn't sleep with the Bunch in the Cave)

But he is heathy and eating since he did well in the other QT.

If he also dies, then I got 3 bullies on my hand.

That's why they need to go into DT and be a bit distracted, by the bigger fish.

Carberryi's are not really known for picking each other off like bartletts do, it should be no problem to keep a group of them.

All anthia have potential for disease and parasites, very typical to have some new ones perish, very important to qt all fish, but even more so w/ anthia, and uronema is very common w/ them.
Not sure that is your issue or not, it's hard to say really

Davocean,

You got that part right QT/SuccessRate. Never had Anthias of this type. The Sunburst Anthias Qt was a breeze.

I originally got 5 Cariberryi's, and 2 died in QT first night. Another One Day later. (My mistake was the way I acclimatized).

I had two left, and they were doing great. Then somehow, on a Covered QT one jumped out. (That was REAL BAD LUCK)

With ONE left I wasn't happy. Got 5 more. One of those died, and then Then one died with the Red Spot.

So out of 10, I have 4 left.
I'd be happy with 4
. (they do get along [kind of], and Eatting FROZEN like Crazy, so that is a good start)
I started Seachem MetroPlex, but will be converting over To (Copper Safe / Nitrafurzone Treatment)

I simply have too much to risk in Upgraded DT. After doing all the Quaratine's, Treating one for Ich, and Feed Training (For all the DT Fish).

Yeah, if I want 3 I'll probably order like 5 knowing some might not even survive the initial FW dip, and I'll be lucky to have 3 remaining.

It's not like impossible or anything, I've had a number of tanks w/ different groups over the years, you just gotta do a proper QT
