One of my all time favorite macroalgae!

With all the posts on nuisance algae, I thought I'd show the good side of macroalgae here!

Out of all the different and beautiful macroalgae I've collected over the years, this is one of my favorites It has a shimmery silver and gold iridescence to it, and the color shifts depending on what angle you're looking at it.

well if you split it up and share it across the country. then it will be growing excruciatingly slow for more people. :eek2: :hmm5:

What light is it under? Since most macro's grow best under 8500K, I'd toss it under some CFL bulbs and see if you can get it to grow faster! I'd love a piece of it too once it grows out (if you'll sell any haha)! :thumbsup:

I've grown it under T5's, LED's and CFL bulbs. As long as there's a decent amount of light, growth rate is pretty similar under all of them. Sloooooooow

is it soft or calcerous?

Stiff but not a partly calcified algae.

Wow that's probably the nicest algae I ever seen! I see something that color every so often when I'm diving but it only grows in small strands like the size of a single piece of tinsel.

I have some like that, thin branched, but multicolored iridescence to it, very pretty but the bigger one here photographs better

Anywhere I can A few stores, other macro nuts, find as hitchhikers on corals at LFS...
