one or two filters?

Hello all,
Total newbie here, just got a 55g tank and want to set up for natives-only. My first question is: should I get a bio-wheel filter/pump for 55g or two seperate smaller ones. seems like i've had advice for the latter, but can't remember. I intend to keep young self-caught local species fishes, inverts, crustaceans, etc. whatever we can glean from the intracoastal. Will be using live sand, "instant ocean" and a heater. Any advice appreciated!

Neither bro no need for it. just use a pair of powerheads and live rock. go with a refugium too, it seems like way to advanced when you first start I know, but with reef central you can get some cheep stuff and make something really basic very very easily.

apologies, but what are powerheads? I'll get a pair as soon as i know what they are!
you should definitely read some more before buying anything...

900's would be perfect in my opinion too. dude just hover around hear, ask questions, and research BEFORE you do anything. TRUST me it will save you a ton in the long run. dont be afraid to ask any questions, he people on hear are extremely nice. I beleive I have talked to you before about something? I dont remember. But I live in Holiday, and my mom teaches in pinellas . If you want to come over and just hang out and ask questions let me know. I am pretty sure I am just hanging out all day tommarrow but im not postive yet. Let me know if you want to hook up sometime. In the meantime, go to www.google.com, and type in starting a marine aquarium and go from there. I cant stress researching alot dude. It is so easy when you already know a ton about something before you do it. My tank is only a few months old and when I started it was a fish only tank, now it had a 30 gallon refugium and is so packed with corals I can barely fit anymore in it. Good luck.

thanks for all the help! I will certainly do loads more research. Just got the tank and rarin' to go. To Mr Lino, no corals, and only live detritus (like encrusted coke cans) found in the intracoastal.
