OneReef's 120g DreamReef

Very nice... ORA has always been my favorite. I adopted a red planet from Matt which was kinda sickly looking but it's now getting its color back. This weekend I have two ORA's to pick up from Memfish: the Miami Orchid has always been my favorite for the lovely tips and it's a really fast grower (at our annual frag swap several years ago I sold over a dozen frags from it, that's how much it grew) and something new from ORA... a green psammacora. I had a really nice brown for years, not a fast grower but very unique looking...but this new ORA psammacora is a stunning green. I'll post pics later.

I saw your psammacora at Memfish Wednesday. It was a brilliant neon green. It will be a great addition!

Skimmer Action:

Just wanted to show how well my skimmer is working. I cleaned the cup and neck shiny clean, then attached it and started it running again. I scraped all my front and side tank glass of the green algae film with a magfloat. Within 30 minutes, the skimmer had pulled alot of that scraped green algae into the skimmer cup. I could tell thats what it was because my skimmate was green. It has been working well for me so far, it is the Super Reef Octopus XP SSS1000 for reference.

New Pod House:

I abandoned my PVC pipe with holes and filter pads in it, that I had pods living in down in my sump. I decided to build something a little nicer. I bought some acrylics at Lowes and built a small box with a sliding door on one side that I can house pods and media for them to live and breed in. Right now there are only a few square filter pads with pods in it, but I will some add some rock rubble and order more pods soon to stock it back up. It is a simple rectangle box with a door one the end that I can slide on and off as needed to add things. I drilled holes all in the side of it for them to enter and exit through. Seems to be working well so far. Just need to order some more pods and get some rubble rock.

The lost fish:

A few weeks ago, I found some Evansi Anthias locally and bought them with the intentions of putting them in a QT tank till they were eating healthy and looking good. Without thinking, I had forgotten that I was about to leave town on vacation for a week, and would not be able to watch them, or feed them several times a day. I had my father-in-law coming over once a day to feed the main display tank, but could not ask him to come over multiple times a day to take special care of my new Anthias, especially with him knowing nothing about fish tanks. I ended up returning them to the LFS the day before my vacation out of caution, which was a shame, as they were so beautiful. Oh well, maybe I can add them back one day.

Sweet pod refuge, love the idea - may have to attempt myself. And I'm sure you'll still be able to find something beautiful when you return. Have fun on vacation!

More SPS:

I have been on an SPS buying binge this week. Guess I was tired of no coral in my tank, and knowing that these small frags will take a bit of time to grow out, I was ready to get it going! :)

I placed an order with one of WTMRAC's good sponsors, Harry's Frags, and was able to get free shipping. His corals were very well packed and came in looking great.

Atlantis Red Cythera (he threw in for free!) :)

I also ordered from him a Tyree Pink Lemonade and a Aussie Echinata, but apparently, those two pictures didn't transfer over to my Photobucket account.... oops.

I also picked up a nice Oregon Blue Tort colony from Memfish today, it is now the centerpiece of my tank for the time being: :)

Newest Front Tank Shot:

With the addition of a bunch of SPS frags over the last two weeks, I am going to leave the tank alone now for awhile and just let it grow. Here's how it currently looks:

Rose BTA:

I traded someone locally a week or so ago, a small acan for a Rose Bubble Tip Anemone. It is pretty (red/pink, with green disc and base, has nice bulb tips), but I am not sure if I am going to keep it. It has settled in one place, but I will probably live in constant worry that it will move around, killing any of my SPS that it touches. I don't think that I want that headache. Plus, I have to keep the sponge covers on my Vortechs so that it won't get sucked in and chewed up, and that's one more thing to have to keep clean.

If anyone is in the market for a Rose BTA, I could probably easily be talked into selling it for a low price....ha

I added some rock rubble to my new acrylic 'pod house. The place that I order my pods from is now running the special again, 2000 pods with free shipping, so I am getting ready to stock up my new pod house with some inhabitants.

A few LPS:

Despite the fact that I am going predominantly SPS in this tank, I can't help myself and pick up the occasional piece of LPS that catches my eye.

IVS Portal Viewer:

I read about this IVS Portal Viewer and had to try it. It is a magnetic magnifier that goes on your tanks glass and magnifies anything that you slide it in front of. You can take pictures through it too. It also has magfloat type material on the inner half and can scrub glass algae film as you move it around. You can see much through it much better and it magnifies alot better than I can show here in pictures. Here are a few pictures as I was playing around with it:

WWC Chalices and SPS:

I recently built a frag tank for myself. I will be posting pictures and the build of it later today. I bought some corals for half price or less on sale at WWC when they had a LIVE 24 hour sale contest, and it will be a nice start for my frag tank growout next year when they get bigger, that I will then be able to sell. Here are the WWC corals, it was WYSIWYG:
