online fish store with warranty

Hi
is liveaquaria the only fish seller that gives 2 weeks alive warranty? if not who else? are they good?

Saltwaterfish.com gives a 15 day guarantee (via store credit). They also fully refund any items DOA. I've usually had great experiences with their specimens and have only had a couple requiring a warranty request (which they offered without issue).

I've used live aquaria for about ten years with both fresh and saltwater and I've never had one problem. I think I had one doa from them many years ago and literally no hassle they refunded me no questions asked

Keep in mind that a refund will generally not include the shipping cost, so if you order $30 worth of fish with $40 shipping cost, your refund will be $30 and not $70. Read the fine print before ordering.

If what you buy dies within 14 days, you can ask for a refund or store credit or liveaquaria ships it back to you free of charge (for one time, if that one also dies, no more refund). For reshipping the minimum value of the the animal should be $29. But most animals in this hobby are above that value anyways and you can ask them to join several such animals from guarantees of different orders so that the minimum goes above $29.

I will never buy any "alive" stuff from anywhere but LA. Sure others also give you a guarantee, but if the wrasse you bought died under the sand or your new coral disintegrated into nothingness overnight, you wont be able to use it because you cannot provide photographic evidence. LA is the only vendor that is flexible under these circumstances. If an animal I bought starts to show weird behavior, I immediately contact them and explain (sometimes with pictures and videos). I clearly state that I do not want a refund right away, but I do this just in case it dies and I cannot find the remains. I had cases the animal eventually recovered and cases where it died and remains were never seen again :) (CUC can easily consume a small dead fish overnight). All in all, LA never asked for any photos from me, but if I find the remains I email it to the anyways. I guess I trust them and they trust me :)

can i ask why you guys just dont buy stuff from your lfs. you get to see the fish, observe it and watch it eat. Maybe i am spoiled living in new york, but there is literally 4 great stores to chose from and all of the time i pay less than liveaquaira has the fish listed for. plus no shipping. plus you support the little guy and not a big company.

I order online because there is nothing good near me. We have a store that is a huge warehouse but the fish always look sick.
To find good fish I have to drive to any other city and the nice fish are usually picked over as soon as they come in.

totally understand that. you have a big tank. what i did with my big tank is i told the guy i would buy everything there as long as he gave me 25 percent off livestock and he emails me when shipments come in and i ask him to save stuff for me got a 8 inch ultra green metallic wall hammer for 50 bucks, cant beat that. but i do understand if you arent near a good shop, what can you do

While it would be nice to see the fish in advance:
1. Most LFS in my area charge literally more than the best online price plus shipping. I'm amazed anyone buys anything from them.
2. LA is overpriced.
3. The notion of "supporting the local mom & pop" is a political goal that not everyone shares. Local mom and pop stores are inherently less efficient thus driving prices higher. Like everything in life there are tradeoffs.

Personally I think LFS are dinosaurs. Its hard to find any situation where I'm better off buying at the LFS: online retailers beat their price and selection, AND offer better guarantees on their animals.

Closest store is 2.5 hours one way. And almost every time I go they are sold out of everything (fish) I want.

Sustainable aquatics (The Coral Reef TN) has a 15 day warranty and very healthy fish. They ship at 1.024 gravity which makes acclimation easier.

The Coral Reef

I am lucky enough to live 15 minutes from the Coral Reef and 25 minutes from the SA Hatchery.

I can not say enough good things about The Coral Reef. The live stock is great, shipping is reasonable.

And for the record, I would much rather buy locally but, again 2.5 hours one way. I do buy my coral and some fish when I can. But honestly, no store within 3 hours of me can beat live aquaria's fish prices. The only one who comes close only has a 24 hour guarantee which would be okay if I didn't have to drive 2.5 hours to return the dead fish, bring a sample of my water, etc. etc. etc After adding all that in an extra 5-10 bucks on LA is nothing.
