I live in Ca. and was wondering where the best online store to purchase fish. Some place that makes sure the fish is healthy and eating before they ship it to you.

liveaquaria.com has "divers den" where the fishes are quarantined and made sure they eat and shows no signs of disease for a few weeks. The prices are a little higher than normal, but they are usually healthy (unless they develop problems during shipping) and they offer like 2 weeks guarantee.
You could always try offering a small deposit to your local fish store to hold the fish you like for a few more days/week to see if they stay alive.
make sure you still quarantine the fishes to make sure that they are disease free.

Liveaquaria usually has very good fish in stock. Diver's Den also has the best fish healthy and eating before they ship. But like anything in this hobby don't rely on anyone else doing the quarantining for you. Got two fish from Diver's Den one never ate and perished the other developed marine ich. Customer service was great. They refunded me for my loss with no hassle. By the way all of my fish are from these two places.

Out of 13 fish i have ordered from Liveaquaria, only 3 have made it. meanwhile, i have only ever lost 2 fish when buying from a lfs. Maybe its just my luck, but have never had a very good experience.
