online SPS stores, who do you buy from?

Since no one mentioned it I have on occassion bought from ebay. The thing with ebay is the same as the internet, you need to find the good sellers from the bad. There are some. I am the first to admit i hate cornbred and what he has done to our hobby via hyper inflated prices and photoshopped corals. Yet there are some diamonds in the rough. I just 100% expect the pieces to be wild, and chopped. This is an option that is not the same as BC, BC is someone with experience and care for his SPS that has earned him the accreditation he has received. I actually just recently learned about battle corals and have read over his information a few times. The guy has some stellar corals to choose from, and seems to hate pests as much as most of us do. Not to mention he has glowing reviews from everyone who he does business with.

I agree I drove down to his house last summer to pick up an order. Adam is just an all around nice guy and has a great setup going on.

Seems it hasn't been updated or touched in quite a while.

The only way to see what they have is view their vendor forum on reef two reef on the weekends. They may have one on here but not sure. They post sales like livesales but there is no needing to post the second a coral hits to call dibs on it.

He's been having packs lately too. Last sale it was 10 acro frags, their pick, for $100.

My list of vendors would be, Cherry Corals, WWC, Jason Fox, The Coral Kings ( he had a huge pack for $1800 today), BattleCorals and AquaSD, Gonzo will also have some nice acros sometimes and Reef Pets

We stopped buying from cherry corals when we ordered two 1000$ and up orders and never got a single freebie. And a 800$ order before those and no freebies. WEAK... I let them know and they thought I didn't deserve any freebies I guess. Still no one can beat the amount of nice acropora you can get from aquasd. I have not tried the 100 bucks for ten frags yet, anyone else? I doubt they are really nice but I bet a few are. I would order more coral Kings but I didn't think the price was worth the product. Crazy pictures doesn't mean you get crazy acros. And I am not spending that much on a frag pack when the base price is 100 bucks and your getting single colored Millie frags in it. A couple of their corals look really nice but I have yet to see a good pic of a coral grown from one of their corals.

EBay I won't mess with. Reef pets seems to have large colonies go on sale after a while for a good price. Not even sure how to order from gonzo I remember his site was really small. Wwc I haven't bothered with yet, easier to get those corals from other people who have grown them out. Jason fox, same thing...

Anyone have good experiences with anyone not mentioned?

Ive been sriously thinking about the Chalice, Favia, and LPS 10 packs from AquaSD.
30 frags for $300 is quite palatable.

For sticks I prefer Fraghouse coral, some of the nicest frags I've ever had the pleasure of putting in my tank. No fuss, no pests, no BS.

I put a 10 acro pack and 10 acro and monti pack in my tank a couple months ago everything has done good so far and got a few freebees ended up with 24 frags for 200 plus shipping they werent the biggest frags but for around 10$ each i was expecting a bunch of birdsnest and digis lol which i did not receieve thank you very much instead i got a bunch of multi color sticks that i cant wait to grow out thanks aquasd it was a good experiance. Im deffinantly going to grab a few of the other packs for space filling once everything gets a good encrust.

If your getting sps fro aqua sd have you better have a quarantine tank. ive never got frags without AEFW.

It's a good deal yes I've got a bunch of coral from them.I'm going to go out on a limb and say you will have AEFW if you put them directly in your show tank.Hopefully you didn't put them directly in your show tank without a couple months of dipping in a quarantine tank. There's a reason he sends coral cleaner with shipment.

I didn't receive no Coral cleaner with my package nor did I receive any frags with any evidence of anything harming them everything was Bayer dipped extracted from plug and mounted nothing fell off except a few pods hopefully it stays that way .

That's weird I've placed 5 or so orders and they all came with the little packets of coral cleaner and all had flatworms that really started showing up after a month or so. That Makes me to believe it was eggs hatching out.

Never seen any bite marks on anything from them. Didnt get free coral dip either. I have ordered maybe 30+ frags so that's pretty good. I would like to bet they would replace any coral infected with eggs if they were made aware of it.

If I had seen aefw evidence I would already be prepared and take action. Its my responsibility to not let them into my tank. Not their responsibility to qt the large amount of acropora they move through their store. I don't think this thread should get turned into a "don't buy from him" thread. I have enough trouble finding new places to get acros as it is.

I have seen more aefw from high end collector/dealers and locals than from places like aquasd. Just part of the hobby, once you learn to expect them and deal with them when they are seen, the hobby becomes so much more fulfilling. Worrying about pests constantly ruined a few years of my reefing days.

Most people don't notice an infestation for many months after eggs are introduced. I would hate to believe all your frags in 5 separate orders were infected. Why would you keep buying from them if you knew each order kept having flatworms? Must have been some nice corals :p. Did you get rid of them?

Just for everyone's info, there is no need to set up a qt tank to rid a tank of aefw, you can dip them weekly from the display to break the cycle.

First off I'm not bashing them an any way. They sell nice corals for a good price that is why I buy them. I go under the assumption that every coral I buy regardless of where I buy it has AEFW. With that being said in my observation they all have had AEFW. I was just trying to give people a heads up. I also think everyone who is going to keep a successful Sps tank long term has to have a quarantine tank. And yes I got rid of them because they sit in quarantine dipped every Friday for three months. If I miss one dip the thre months starts all over again.

I have not really got into sps much yet but what's the difference from ordering online, instead of just going to your LFS? Seems it would save the shipping cost.

Not everyone has access to good a LFS. There are only 2 LFS within 50 miles to me that carry saltwater stuff. One sucks and will not get my business. The other is nice but only carries a limited selection of SPS and sometimes does not have any.

Ah okay, i guess I really never thought about that. I live in Orlando and have four different stores within 10 miles of me.

The down side of small town living. The good LFS is 30 minutes from home, actually in a different town. The next closest one I would use is over an hour away.

Try living in the midwest where you're at least 6 hours or more from the ocean.

We have some good stores locally, but nothing like you guys have on the Coasts.

Selection can be hit or miss.
