Well WVU's leather and Phils leather don't like each other. They both were not looking too good this evening when I got home. I moved one to another tank. My question is are they both gonna play nice together in the 55 or will I have to keep them apart?

Are you sure it is not a flow problem. Many leather's will look bad if they are not able to sloth off their mucus.

Well WVU's leather has turned from brown to almost white.... Your frag also started bleaching out too and WVU's leather was nice and brown and has been growing the last 3 weeks.

It could be chemical warfare but they are both closely related species. How about the Xenia crash, could it have started this. Also is there any colts in the tank? The ones with a lot of mucus will cause trouble IMO. A ten gallon tank is also rather small to have very many corals in, especially softies. Again, I ask about flow because when my leathers start doing poorly it is usually flow related or allelopathy.

No colts. The xenia could have caused it. They were both right under inlets from the filter/sump so they have/had plenty of flow. wvu's frag is already starting to color up again since the move.

Did you do any water tests?

You may have a nitrite or ammonia spike caused by the death of your Xenia, in such a small system this could spell D-I-S-A-S-T-E-R.
