Was doing some cleaning in my tank and accidentally hit the polyp. It expelled some green substance. Is this a death sentence?

Not necessarily.
To tell you the truth, most of the time that's not a big deal.
Give it some time and watch closely for any possible bacterial infection.
Make sure it has good water flow, not too much!!

Grandis.

Same thing happened to me a week ago with my mandarin orange zoa. Hasn't opened since and I'm not very optimistic. My favorite zoa in my tank.

How can you tell if it has bacterial infection and what would you do to treat it?

It is open and looking good. I have no idea what the heck that was that came out of it? So for all thoes that has this happen you will more than likely Ok. I did not have any problems with it before so maybe I just scared the - - - - out of it?

Even if a polyp dies there is a chance it can come back. Never throw a zoa/paly frag out until there is nothing left on it.
