Open Brain happiness

Below are two pictures of the open brain that I keep in my picotope. This morning it was all puffed out, then shrank back down. Does either condition suggest a happier open brain?

Puffed condition:

"Normal" condition:

Thanks

I think it looks pretty good too.

Is there a preferred condition (i.e. puffed or not), are there certain conditions that will make this happen, or is it just doing its thing? It would be nice it the puffed condition was a sign of good conditions or a symptom of something that needs investigation/correction.

What do you guys think?

Thanks

They do weird stuff sometimes. As long as it's been in there long enough to have adjusted to your lighting then I wouldn't stress it, if it's new you may wanna keep an eye on it.

I have one that does that, I have yet to notice anything that causes it to puff up, mine has been with me almost two years and seems happy and has nice color...try moving yours to the sandbed if it bothers you...the one I have that does that, seemed to puff up more often when it was in my rockwork... I moved it to the sand since I was worried it might puff up too much, fall off the rocks and injure itself...it still puffs up but not as much now that it's in the sand.

Just noticed my newly acquired brain is puffing, but only half of it. Hopefully its normal.

Mine has cycles of puffiness and anorexia, if it helps. It's probably related to the lighting cycle or their feeding cycle, but I haven't noticed any problems.

I have a bali brain and it also puffs! I could never undestand why. However it looks very helth to me. I also believe that is some kind of cicle

I've had a couple trachyphyllias.

What I noticed is that the coral puffed when there was food in the water, like cyclopeeze, especially. It's hard to see the mouth because of the glare in that first shot, but my guess is that it is probably more open when the coral looks puffed.

Nice looking specimen, I've been wanting to get another one of these for a while.

Mine puffs any time after it's eaten (which is practically any time I'm feeding the tank since I'm trying to get it to heal) and shrinks up every night until morning.
