If I'm not mistaken wellso has been tossed out as a classification and they're part of the trachy genus now. Either way what's the question? They're different genus corals that have different look and growth pattern. Similar care requirements
I guess I'm asking if you could point out the differences in the genus for me. I've looked at a lot of pictures and been reading about them, but I can't tell the difference
No problem at all
Lobos tend to have less fleshy inflation and a more dense and spiked skeletal structure. More like a large platygyra or maze brain. Trachy have much much more fleshy tissues with wider smoother skeletons . Not super scientific but may help. It's helpful to see pics of large colonies.
I suppose in the wild they'll both grow and grow (though I've seen video of lobo colonies the size of football fields). In tanks though it's a mixed bag. Seen big and small colonies of each
