Open Brain with dark exposed areas

I recently purchased a green open brain. He is sitting at the bottom of my tank. He is eating and has actually visibly grown in the bast two weeks.

I noticed this morning that when you look at it from the side, it seems to have some tissue opening up to expose some dark fleshy substance. Like an idiot, I didn't check if these were there when I bought it, but I am concerned. It is as if the head is separating from the base. I will try to post a pic to see if you guys can get a better idea of what is going on.

I have a red open brain that is doing the same thing. I too would like to know what I can do about this.

Mine has been eating and to be visibly happy. I hope it is one of those things that happened at the LFS and not in my tank. I would like to have the feeling I am nursing it back to health. It ate the equivalent of a silverside in small pieces today.

I hope someone has some advice
