Open brains or flat brains

Do they have to go on the sand bed, or if the fit snuggly on the rocks they will be okay

no, i would not put them on rockwork. aside from the possibility of being knocked over, snug or not, their tissue is extremely delicate and being actually in or on the rockwork can damage them a great deal and possibly kill them. They would do best directly on the sand bed.

if you have a large flat rock ledge to sit one on then IME it should be fine. generally though the sandbed is the safest route for success

I do have a really nice piece of flat rock to put it on. Thanks for the answers fellow reefers

Even flat rock, id be careful. When it opens, and believe me it will expand to at least 3x as it is in the store, the rock being under it can damage the flesh. I would stay away from rock work with a brain! Too expensive to take the chance IMO. I've got experience with brains, and just wouldn't chance it.
