Open wound on my Lineatus Wrasse

I have a Lineatus Wrrase that I bought about 2 weeks ago. He is still in qt. He arrived very healthy but he now has an open wound on the top of his body behind the eyes but in front of the top fin. I think he was rubbing it on the eggcrate that I use to separate fish in QT. I fixed it to where it would not be able to rub on it anymore and I started to treat with melafix since last thursday evening. It seems to be getting worse. I don't know how to get my pics on the web to show you what it looks like...Call me pc illerate. It does not look like parasites or anything like that. It simply looks like an open wound. Like as if he has been rubbing it on something as I suspected. How do you suggest I treat it?

It's difficult to say without more information. There is a decent diagnosis/treatment section at this site, which sells fish meds too:

I would watch water quality (daily water changes, no ammonia) and treat with a broad spectrum antibiotic like neomycin in combination with sulfa.

You need to treat with antibiotics. Try Furan2 or Maracyn2. The infection is to far gone for Melafix to cure it.

sounds similar to what I just experienced with my c. cyanopleura. See my thread looking for good general purpose treatment a few threads down. If so, take P9's advice and go to the AB's pronto; melafix will not work.
