So, I have caught all my fish out of my heavily stocked 400gal reef except two. I have drained the water down 3 times, and each time I do it, the last two fish just stay somewhere in the tank that I can't see. I drain the tank down to just one small pool. Last time I drained it down and left it empty for an hour thirty minutes(kept corals wet with spray bottle) hoping to kill off the last two fish. No luck. Woke up this morning and there they are. The two fish are a Jawfish and a Firefish. My question is neither one of these fish have visible ich, but obviously the parasite will still live in the tank until I get them out...is my assumption correct? I borrowed a trap from LFS, but I've never used one. How do you bait it so the bait stays in the tube but still get's the attention of the fish? Any and all suggestions on getting these two fish outa the tank or any other ideas would be helpful and appreciated!

Get yourself a piece of acrylic to make a partition, catching those fish in a small section of your tank will be far easier then letting them run throughout. Both of those fish have no problem jetting under a rock, so they are very difficult to catch, limiting their running room will surely make it easier.

I had a problem getting my Melanarus out of my tank, had all the rock and water out, still couldn't get him.
Didn't feed for 4 days, used a #18 fly hook baited with food, got him first shot.

OK, so I haven't been fishing in over 20 years so pardon the stupid question...is there hooks small enough to catch a fire fish? I know the jaw fish has a huge mouth, so probably not a problem, but the fire fish?

Sabiki hook might not be small enough..fly fishing hooks are. Find a #18 or #20 hook, they are tiny.
