Opinions needed new tank design ?s

I am planning a new tank, 29g. I will be buying the tank monday to begin cunstruction next week. I want to build an external overflow with a 1" drain, stockman standpipe. Two .5" or .75" returns (opinions please), maybe with SCWD(again not sure), with a Mag-Drive 9.5. To two locline split nozzles. No closed loop. I kind of want higher flow at the top of the tank, medium flow in the middle, to low flow on the bottom.

Here is a drawing of my plumbing plans (no SCWD in plans) what do you think. I am trying to get a pretty high flow rate in the sump, with low flow in fuge.

Everything looks good to me, the only thing I would question is why do you need the baffle entering the refuge? It shouldn't cause a problem I just don't think it's necessary. I also question if the mag 9.5 will be enough to get any real flow. With all the T's and the possibility of the squid that's a lot of "head pressure". Try it and worst case you may need a different return pump.

also, you may not want your skimmer downstream of your fuge. You don't want to skim the good stuff before it goes back to the tank. Can you put your skimmer in the entry compartment to the fuge?

Yeah, I think I will get rid of the bubble trap but leave 2 single baffles in the fuge. Then return to sump directly into the return pump area after the skimmer. I want to make sure I don't cause any micro bubbles in the return area, so I guess I will try it then tinker afterwards if I have any MB.

As far as the return pump goes, I am open to suggestion. I want to get as close as possible to around 450-500gph in the tank. Would overpowering the pump, and putting a valve and SCWD reduce the life of the pump?

I am thinking 1" return to a SCWD, with 2x 3/4" returns to tank through a mag-drive 9.5 or 12.

Then this on the display side.
