opinions on Canon EF 28-135mm IS Lens

Ooh! Beerguy, where are you!?

There are some, no names (coughbeerguycough) who may absolutely hate this lens. It's certainly no L series. It has been my primary lens for over three years now. It's a little slow (only f/3.5-5.6) so they make up for that a little bit with the IS. It's versatile, certainly. This lens would fall under the "every day walking around" lens. The primary downfall for me is that it turns into a 45-216mm on a crop body like my 20D, so it's not as wide as it used to be on my 35mm.

Perhaps some of these lenses are built better than others because QC is low, I'm not sure, but mine has been alright. Like I said, it's certainly no L lens, but it doesn't carry that price tag, either. Having shot it for so long, my experience now makes me long for an L series lineup exclusively, but I found this lens to be a great utility learning lens that blows the kit lenses out of the water.
