Im having algae become more noticeable. I keep up with my water maintanence.MY water is in good shape (except ph 8.1)

So i want to keep it down,
Which one would help out better for control/trimming algae growing on the rocks. A fish(i dont know which one) or go and buy clean up crew , I currntly have 12 snails in my 55. Could that be why the algae seems more noticeable?

But the way can some one help me find online cheap clean up crew.Ive been searching but cant find anything cheap deals.

Well, you're talking about addressing the symptoms and not the cause. Something is causing the algae and it's not the snails.

1) How many and what kind of fish do you have?
2) Do you use DO/DI water? Have you tested the TDS reading coming out of your filter lately?
3) Do you feed heavily?

well to answer the questions ....i only have a diamond back goby, i feed a bit twice a day.I do use ro/di water and i cant test TDS because i dont have a test for it.

The reson i asked about the snails is because i want the appearance of the tank to be nice and keep the algae down.

I do believe that i know where im getting these nutrients from,It must be the phyto that im dosing in which i have no reason at all(or so i believe) to be dosing. I have a xenia coral which i learned does use some of the nutrients but i figured that there is enough nutrients to keep it happy(unlike the LFS guy who gave it to me for the "coral"). Without the phyto, therefor i completely stopped dosing it. Am i on the right track?
