I have two percula clowns roughly an 1 1/2" I have had them for four weeks one of my first tank residents. I wanted gold stripe maroons but no one had them and the two that i did find were sick and one later died. so i did not get them and went with my percs. I have come across a salt water store with two gold stripe maroons about 2" and have been suggested a trade for them and 15$ I was wanting some opinions from everyone on what would go best in the long run of my tank. I like the guys I have now but they are tank raised and unlikely to host while the maroons are already hosting in a bubble nem. I would want to keep two so would they get along? they seem ok in the store and i am reading on them but im not to sure what to do.

My tank raised clowns have always hosted my anemones. Smetimes it takes a little work though....

It is your tank, so do what makes you happy.....

I like the maroons but I feel bad for giving the others the boot lol. I am not finding a lot of info on the maroons can the get along with friends in the tank I am going to a mixed reef with them. is there any real concerns i should have with them? the problem with doing what make me happy is there is a million options!

My maroons get along with other tank mates fine, except for my 2 other pair of clowns. If you are getting a bta, then go with the maroons. My percs and ocellaris would not go near my 3 rbta's.

do all maroons have spines on there cheeks?

My GSM had spines on the cheek, and as far as I know, all of them do.. THe GSM's would be much more aggressive than perculas. Are your perculas True Percs? I'd say if they were true percs it would be worth more in my opinion. Especially if they are already getting along.

From what I hear and from my own experience, GSM's are harder to pair and because of the aggressiveness, I got rid of mine and replaced it with 2 true percs..

And by the way.. my GSM even hosted with frogspawn and hammer coral... he really didn't care as long as he could sit in it..

They are not true they are false which is why i think it is a good idea to go ahead and swap em.
