ok, so about 4 months ago i ordered me an pair of the ORA picasso clowns. i quaranined them for two weeks until i was sure they were eating and doing good.

as soon as i added them to my tank the instantly took to my elegance coral.within 72 hours of entering my tank they came down with a fungus where their side fin meets there body. i instantly removed them and put them abck ito quarantine, ut lost the lottle boy(smaller one). the female(larger one) pulled threw and i ordered another one to give her company. he came in and they instantly took to each other in the quarantine tank.

3 weeks later i carefully looked them over and they were perfectly halthy and fat. i placed them back into the display that night. in the morning the female(one from the original pair) showed a small dot of fungus and i removed them again.

this has went on for 4 months now and this time they have been in quarantine for 5 weeks, and i am a little frustrated...

i called ORA about 2 weeks ago just ot get the run around with sorry the person you need to talk to isnt here right now, i will have them call you.... and i still havent heard frm them...

i am beginning to think i will never buy another ORA fish, cuz i think this is a genetic defect, and they just dont want to hear about it, cuz they already know about it...

does anyone have any ideas for me??????

Sounds like ich, which is not coming from your QT, but in your display. No way to avoid ich in the main display it is always there, your fish just have to be healthy enough to kick it. Moving them as often as you did, will stress the fish out. My fish get ich every once in a while and they kick it in about 3 days, I hardly ever treat for it, I would rather my fish have healthy immune system then treat them with hypo and meds at the first sign of ich. I have never lost a fish to ich... and I have only treated for it once. I own an ORA picasso and she is fine, has had ich once when I got her, and has not gotten it again I have had her almost a year.

THIS IS NOT ICH.... ich is small white spots all over the fish.... this is a white cottony film about the size of an eraser....

Fungus is not your everyday marine illness. I have no idea what your clowns have, it's impossible to make a guess without a clear picture.

No reason to bash ORA so loudly without any supporting evidence that the illness is their fault, BTW.

not trying to BASH ora, just a little frustrated that i have been told they would contact me and still havent heard anything back.

Shane,
Sorry I misunderstood you. I hope ORA gets back to you and as Marina says it would help if you had a picture to help ID. Best of luck~

well, i have the fungus cleared up again, so i would have to put them back into my display in order to take a pic, but i might just do that so i can put it on here for people to see....

Shane - It is hard to determine what your guys have without pictures. Another disease these guys get (and excuse my explanation in advance - I am not an expert on this) tends to look like small cauliflower growth on their skin. I have had my clownfish get this and it is passed from one clown to another with no affect to really any other specieis of fish. Does this sound like what your guys had? Also if it is QT usually wont fix it.

I think it is something called "Lymphocystis" You can easily scrape it off if this is it. I used to use a credit card (gently) to get it off. Do a search for pictures.

A little more info and description of the DT and QT would be helpfull. Are you treating them with anyting in QT? Are there other fish in the DT? Pics, as mentioned above, Etc.

asi i said before i dont see any signs of the fungus after i did my 4 day treatment, and they have been in the qt for over 1 month now, so i cant take any pics. i treat for 4 days with jungle brand fungus clear and it seems to clear it up, except a small red spot where the fungus was, which goes away after approx 1 week. i do a 100% water change out of my dt every other day to ensure no no2,no3,nh4. i run my qt with a heater and air stone to ensure high levels of o2. and put a couple of ceramic cups in there for the fish to be able to hide....

my display is a 120 gal show(48by 24by24) i run a closed loop with a dart pump, my return from a 40 gal sump is a velocity t4 pump into 2 sea swirls. my skimmer is an atb med w/airstar external conical skimmer. i run a small amount of carbon changed every 2-3 weeks. i have approx 200lbs of live rock and 150lbs of live sand. i do a 10 gal waterchange with ocean pure salt every week, and a 40 gal water change 1 time every month. i run predominantly sps, with a few choice lps and zoos. i run a 1/3hp teco seachill chiller with a 15 watt uv sterilizer(i dont really run the sterilizer as i havent seen any good come from it). i run a geo 618 ca reactor to keep my tank stable in ca and kh...

my water quality is as follows

no2-0
no3-0
amm-0
cal-460
kh-11
pH-8.1
mag-1380
sal-1.027
temp 79 stable day/night
