ORA Purple Digitata

Ok... I was just offered a ORA Purple Digitata for some tiny acro frags I have. I have seen them from really a nice purple to mainly brown (most are brown). So...for you purple digit owners whats the trick to coloring up these guys? Flow and nutrients I got covered for the most part but the lighting I am not sure about. My tank...PAR of 150 on the sand bed and 500 or so up top.

German Blue digi (brown with purple or blue polyps) or purple digi, purple base with brown polyps?

In my experience getting color in that particular digi is more about nutrients and alkalinity than PAR or flow, though 150 is probably low.

I've had success with it but it's a very slow grower compared to the red/orange digi.

If you're running ULNS you'll probably have a nice, slow growing brown coral for many years. It is hardy. Anything over 7.5 dKh seemed to burn it's tips.

Thanks. I think I will go ahead and start it out down low for a week or so and then move it to one of few remaining vacant spots mid-way up.

purple digi

I have kept purple digi in two spots; down low just off the sand bed, and up high several inches from the water surface. It was much more vibrant purple when kept close to the sand bed.

Thanks jdm...I will keep that in mind. Most everything I have gets blasted with photons. So...I will start at the bottom/off to the side a bit and most likely let it be.
