ORA Purple Pillow?

Here is a pic of my frag of the "Real Deal ORA PP". I was told that ORA lost their original colony during the hurricanes and now it is rather hard to come by....

That looks like one. However "most" do not get that coloration completely. Mine is getting more purple each week. In a 20K tank, it was mainly green. In my 10K tank, it was sort of blah but coloring up very well. The nice thing is they grow fairly quick. The bad thing is they are pretty brittle.

ORA did lose the original colony but they are aquaculturing it again. Many reefers donated some back however I don't know if they are distributing it yet or not.

Yes. There is a couple on ebay I would recommend. Probably 2 or 3. Look at the pictures and you can usually tell those who "blue" up the picture. You should have some fellow reefers in NY though.

Here is a top down of my ORA purple pillow. The thing changes colors more than any other coral I have had. It changes from an aqua color, to green, to purple, and everywhere in between. Lighting effects the coloration a great deal with this coral. It spends most of its time is the greenish/aqua color range as in the picture.

what do you search for on ebay? live coral? is there a particular seller? you could email me if youd like, not sure if this answer would be against rules .......................wasp9166@yahoo.com

with the change in color have you you chacked to see what your mag was at the time.. i notice that my corals color up with proper mag or slightly elevated levels.

Here is a not so hot pic that I took right before my actinics came on only. Not to mention my glass is not superbly clean due to me being busy. You can kind of see more structure on it and where it is really purpling up in my tank. I had some more but they came out really bad.

The only reason I don't think it is because the purple pillow has branches at every single spot available. Also the branches are really tiny compared to the ruler shot he posted. But I guess honestly, the only way to know is if you can trace it back to ORA.

I have a purple pillow I got directly from ORA and it looks almost identical to the original pic. I think purple pillow will grow differently in different conditions.

It didn't look as good but alot of their pictures don't. Once I get some stuff organized, I'll be posting some up in the prop forum as well.

No. Mine is near the bottom. Many people I know did not have good success keeping it near the top. I run 10K XM's and it colors up and grows fine near the bottom.
