Orange Coralline Algae Propogation - High, Med, or Low Light?

I just received two nice bright orange coralline covered rocks from a friend who owned a local fish store and collected them over a few years... He kept them in low light conditions, and they only looked about 50% healthy when I got them. I placed them in medium light and the coralline looks to be receeding. I was wondering what the best placement is for orange coralline algae to thrive at? As I have 3 400W 14k halides, and 2 196 watt actinics... Thanks again for your help!

I'd like to know this as well. Not sure if this is pure coincidence or not, but all my rocks were covered in purples and pinks under 130watt PC's . After about a year without changing the bulbs, the purples and pinks started to recede and I had an explosion of orange coralline take its place.

Based on my observations, my guess was that it was the result of the spectrum change...but then again it could be purely coincidental and the result of something else. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

I'm interested in others' input on this.

I just had a bright neon pink rock in my sump which was in no light, it went into the bright light under my 14k 400 watt halides, and it has 100% receded... My calcium levels are perfect at 410 and my alkilinity are correct as well. I think per your response that Orange and Pink are low light, as your power compacts at 130 watt are definitely low light... Thanks LIL Princess...

I have just moved the orange rocks to a cave w/ low light and we will see if the orange coralline increases, i will let you know on here... Please others who know the answer to our query respond...

I would agree with the low light, I had a rock with a bunch on it under pcs with no problems, still lived under halides in the shade, now it's moved to direct light and being taken over my purple.
