orange digitata problem

josee1013

trying my best at this...
I dont know what's wrong!
For the past month my orange digitatas are mad at me or something! the polyps are not full extend like they used to be... it happend before I made my MH change so it's not related to that... the other digi (purple and green) are ok!!!
I did not change or move my pumps, the flow is the same as before...
water parameters are:
0 nitrite/nitrate/amonia
450 calcium
8/9 dKH
1400 magnesium
PH 8.2
temp 75-77F
3x 250w 15K + 4x 80w T5
I can still see the orange polyps retracted in its skeleton, and there is no algae growing on it, so I know its not dead. On some parts of it the polyps does come out ok (base and some branch)...
:worried:

Something might have ticked it off. I find my orange monti very tempermental when it comes to moving or touching it. Also it is one of the first corals to react when my nitrates get high.

the nitrates are negative...

I did not change the tunze but I did made them pulse to produce a wave... coud that be it???

Possibly but who knows. If there is no issue with your tank and everything else looks fine I would just give it a week and the polyps should come back out.

what if they dont re-open, could they eventually die?? the based are ok...
I tought to maybe frag the highest branch...

If your colony is of decent size, maybe you should make a couple small frags and put the frags at different locations in your tank, this way IF the main colony eventually dies, your frags may keep the dream alive.

Did you add anything up flow from where the digi is? Maybe new additions to your tank is doing chem warfare...

Any fish nipping? Or nudibrachs? I know mine were senitive to kh level changes and flow/light changes but I woldnt be too worried

so yesterday we add a little pump near the colonie... just to make more flow direct to them... I'll check if that helps...

Radioheadx14: I did not see any nudi or fish nipping.. watch teh tank all evning yesterday :hmm2: KH level is quite stable (I use kalk)...

I add korallia1 near them and the seems to open polyps a little more.. but not fully extented..

DO you know what??!!?!?!?!??

I dont know what made them come back... more frequent WC? the installation of a bio-beads reactor??

I wish mine would look like that. Mine looks like you’re before picture. Great improvement. How long did it take?
