My adult orange shoulder tang has what looks like lesions around it its head and down one side of its body? Any ideas of what it may be? Its a hard fish to photograph, but ill try and take a photo tonight.

The areas are still the same color yellow as the rest of him, they kind of look like abrasion scars?

Look into HLLE or Head Lateral Line Erosion, perhaps that is what you're experiencing. It's hard to say without a picture though.

I looks very similar. In the past week now I have increased the amounts of nori and other vegetation I'm feeding. Hopefully the increase in green diet will improve the condition. Or at least slow its progression. It does not seam like there is a definitive cure for this, at least thats what I gather from RK mag.

Its an orange shoulder tang, An adult now being about 6" and showing its adult colors. I feed mostly a mixture of frozen brine, misis, and seaweed mix. Ocasionaly I provide some nori. Ive recently increase the nori feedings (about a week ago) to everyother day.

it sounds that the diet is fine. i'm assuming your nitrate is low given that your 125 is a reef tank, so nitrate shouldn't be a problem.

in your sig it says you're using carbon. i would try removing it and see if the HLLE improves. carbon is one of the suspected causes of HLLE.

also take a meter and measure the current between the tank water and a good ground. hopefully you don't have a defective electrical device leaking current into the tank.

Ive got a ground prob in the sump, And at last check there were no issues. I guess the carbon can be removed for a bit, but I think im going to try his increased diet first.

That is crazy, Ive been running carbon for years. I've been hesitant to use a uv light because well i don't know much about them, and don't want to kill any good bacteria. Thanks so much for finding this.
