Black tubastrea NEED very strong flow to prevent detritus building up on the colony. Plus they need to be fed much more often than orange tubastrea.

I will move them in the path of one of my Tunze 6100's and hopefully that'll help... Will report back in a day or two...

Thanks for a quick response!

I moved my black sun coral (tubastrea) into a small cave like spot with more moderate flow just about five mins ago... We'll see what happens from here on out...

I'll update when I see some change!

:)

Update:

After being moved Yesterday...

I checked them about 3am this morning and they were about half way open...

Thanks for letting me know they need to be in flows way!

I also tried a feeding at 3am when they was open...

I have also noticed that mine will NOT open with the lights on. They can be open and feeding and then when the lights go on, the retract within about a minute or less

I've defiently learned they LOVE flow and mine will open during the day depending on what I feed... But they will close up during the day after feeding, When the lights go out, They are open now... The flow made ALL the difference in the world for my BLACK sun polyps... They seem to LOVE cyclopeeze frozen cubes melted of course and the Artic Pods...

My blacks are open 24/7 itupper were fed them. Every day for a month even though there was no receeding tishue they were starving.the tishue ontheside should be puffy not tight to the stem like spandex.I have one head that is 2 icy diameter and the polyp is huge.try the Tupperwere method for a month every day and they willstay open all day and night.pollute the water with liquid food ans mysis in the tupperwers so thy can also absorbs the food I mean pollute it results are amazing I did it also with my dendro then you get a healthy colony like they were when harvested andicanfeed them twice a week instead of every day.
