I seem to remember seeing some one had a pair of orangespotted filefish in a nps tank. Any know of this? I was wondering how well they would handle the strong flow of a nps tank?
Yeah I just have one in my seagrass tank. My mom shot that video for me while I was out of town. I think she is still learning how to use her camera. They can handle lots of flow just fine. I wouldn't recommend one in a tank with precious azoox corals though, unless its a really big tank. Only keep it with corals that you are willing to sacrifice. They are very curious and like to pick at everything. They may find one of your favorite corals tasty.
As soon as it was introduced to the mixed reef it started going for some sps, then later started picking at a fungia. There are other reports of them even tasting anemones. Maybe in the wild they only go for acropora but it seems like once they start learning other foods nothing is off limits.
Mine is a pig he goes after everything floating in the water column then picks at stuff too. I was thinking of keeping goniopora in this tank but I have a feeling he will munch on it. I may just get a clam, I think that might be safe.
Mine never picked at my clam. He picks at the maze brain I have and the sps I give him. Mine only likes to eat mysis and sometimes brine. He's picky to non coral foods.
Well you know you can always give it a try if you are willing to move the fish or coral that he is eating to a different tank in case it doesn't work. It's best to start them in a qt anyway to get them eating the foods you offer.
