Hi guys, I currently have a orbit marine led fixture. I feel like its not doing its job will replacing it with galaxy hydro be better? Thank you so much for all future reply

What are you trying to keep? The galaxy hydro will have much more power than the orbit. If you do go with a fixture like this, be sure to acclimate any corals you have slowly to the more intense light.

Im kinda new so right now some zoa soft and euphyllia. Might add some monti. But sure. I will try galaxy hydro and. Acclimating them. Once they are acclimated, should i make thr blue and White at 100%?

I have read many reviews and Q&A on Amazon. No one set it at 100%. The highest I saw was 60%blue 40%white. The variation appears to depend on tank side, distance from water surface and tank inhabitants.
I'm planning to get this or the viparspectra in the next few weeks myself.

I just ordered it couple of hours ago hopefully I can get some growth (along with good water condition) with this light

It will be WAY better than the Current Orbit.

How big is your tank? Primarily, how deep? The difference between a 12" deep small tank and an 18", 24" and 36" is amazing. Artificial light at the surface of your tank is reduced by 50% at just 18". Your old led would be barely OK over a 12" deep tank.

With that info you can get some help from others about where to set the power on your new leds. With a 24" deep tank you'll start in the 20 to 30% white and 40 to 50% blue. After things settle in you can consider bumping them up some. I run a better led over a 20" deep tank at 40% white and 90% blue. But my corals are mostly sps which tolerate (need) more light.

Just wondering why you say that. I've got the 200W Pro Current Orbit and my corals are exploding in growth from the month I've had it going, and I've only got it at 70% (in my 120Gal reef and fish aquarium). I tried doing my research but there isn't a lot on the Orbit. All I can tell you is that it's fairly low cost (I paid $1200 for the two 100W LED light bars), and they are making my soft corals explode. Even my fish seem happier. The only problem I've had is a GHA growth explosion that I'm also dealing with.

Thank you so much Mr. Ron. My tank is 18 inch deep only. I might get some sps too but ill wait for my tank to mature first. I dont wanna kill corals :D

I have the galaxyhydro and it is a pretty good light. If you are having gha issues don't turn on the white/full spectrum leds, as this would fuel the gha. Get 3-4 turbo snails and the gha will be gone in 2 weeks. I run my fixture at blue 50% full spectrum 30%

Thx for the advice. I got 20 turbo snails, and I've done 3-4 scrubbings and water changes over the last two weeks. It's almost gone.

Running more blue than white light...how does that look to the casual eye?

Basically anyone with a reef tank runs more blue than white. It looks fine. White tends to overpower blues so not much is needed.

I've never been asked (that I can remember) about the 200w Current led. I don't keep up with Current because so many of their led fixtures are 'almost' useless for anything but 12" deep reef tanks or fish only. I was unaware they even had a 200w fixture. How long has the 200 watt fixture been available?

It still has 350+ leds so they are about 1/2 watt leds. I have no experience with them. But I have tested PAR on a number of other Current led systems and have found them all to have very low PAR levels. The 200w and maybe even the 135w fixtures may be OK, but all the other crappy Current fixtures give the company a bad reputation.

But thanks for bringing the 200w fixture to my attention. I'll be more precise when I condemn low wattage Current fixtures from now on.
