Hello, I got my setup from a close friend who passed away and am trying to get it running and setup right because the way he had it was a bit of a mess. I am currently trying to figure out the correct way to set up my lights. I have Two 48 inch Orbit Marine Pro fixtures on the tank (I know that they arent the best lights but they are what he had and I cant afford to buy new lights for hundreds of dollars) I was wondering what kind of lighting schedule I should put them on and how high above the tank they should be. Right now I have them sitting on the rim like they are made to and have them on a preset timer that starts at 8 am and has a 30 Minute sunrise and goes on full intensity until 7:30pm then there is a 30 minute sun set and 4 hours of moon light until 12 when they shut off. I am making a mixed reef with a variety of coral and would love some advice on how to setup my lights correctly. Thanks.

You can run those LEDs higher as they are low wattage LEDs. You don't have to worry as much about burning stuff. I would run your blue/violet colors up to 100% and adjust the whites up to visual preference, but try not to bring them up too high. A 8 hour photoperiod at maximum intensity is fine and do a 1-2 hour ramp up before and 1-2 hour ramp down after.

Would a 8am-10am sunrise followed by 9 hour full intensity period and 7pm-9pm sunset be ok?
